2009A Series Champions

Congrats to #13 Jeff Cummins, and #12 Warren Johnson, champions of the final NSSR Cup and Nationwide seasons.

So that everyone can get on with whatever it is they plan to get on with, I have closed out the 2009a seasons on the website.  The results are recorded for the HOF, and on behalf of the NSSR League, I wish everyone great amounts of luck in their racing adventures to come!  We’ve had a lot of great race events, and share a lot of good memories. Please everyone try to keep your friendships together, and I will do my part to keep the legacy of this group alive forever.

When it comes right down to it, I just want to race with my friends! Many checkereds, and great fun to you all on your new adventures!

At Home in Homestead

Our weekend event at Homestead started  with a new track record being posted by our pole setter, Luke Brown. From the outset the table was set for a battle between our pole setter, Luke in his #88 Spartan Chevrolet and Warren Johnson in the #12 Ryan Autobody Toyota. As happens in the sport of stock car racing, both contenders fell victim to mistakes and took themselves out of contention for the win. The driver who picked up where they left off, #8 Billy Walters didn’t simply sail to the finish line. In typical NSSR fashion, he had to make one final dash for the finish beating out team-mate Jeff Cummins who was hot on his tail.

Great job Billy!

#1 in the Phoenix Sun

Nssr made a stop in Phoenix for the sunshine and the smell of high octane fuel and burning rubber. The track at Phoenix is challenging and any driver can find themselves manhandling their car for the 63 lap duration. After taking the pole, Mike Ivey in the #1, POW, MIA, National Guard Chevrolet proved to not fall into that category. Having led all but one lap Mr. Ivey was only challenged briefly and managed to hold on to the lead to close the books on his fourth win for the 2009a Cup series season.

Great job Mike!
